Julia Scholtes

“I’ve got fiddle in my soul.”

Born into a musical family, Julia began studying piano at age 7.  She accidentally started learning violin by listening to her brothers' violin lessons, and before long she was hooked.  Playing string quartet gigs with her three brothers almost always led to interesting musical (mis)adventures.  She studied with the gifted teacher Mary Gerard in San Diego.

An eclectic musician, Julia plays violin/viola with multiple orchestras and string quartets.  With cellist Lily Roza, the two make up the celtic duo Faire Skye. You can find her folk side performing with The Feisty Women in South Orange County and the Time Travel Madams based in Big Bear, CA.  Monday nights find her at a Bluegrass Jam at Sammy's Original, or at a Celtic Jam in Tustin.

Her violin touches her heart always-it was played by both her grandmother and her father.  In addition, she still plays the piano and happily experiments with bouzouki, ukulele, celtic harp, and almost anything with strings.
